Frequently Asked Questions
What is the space rent?
Rent is $310 a month. You will not find a more affordable rate for the quality of living in Centralia or Chehalis. To compare with other local manufactured communities in the area, follow this link.
What is a 55+ park?
The Housing for Older Persons Act allows communities to shape their identities through age requirements. Society Place is a 55-and-older community, which means at least one resident of each household must be at least 55 years old. No children under age 18 are allowed to live at Society Place, unless they were there prior to Aug. 1, 2006.
Do you have homes for sale?
At any given time, there are usually a home or two for sale in Society Place. If you’re looking for a new home, don’t forget to check out what’s available from local dealers from our links on the Choose your Home page.
How do I get to Society Place?
From I-5, take Exit 81 into the City of Centralia. From the exit, head west on Mellen Street and stay right as it turns into Cooks Hill Road. Take a left on South Scheuber Road and continue south. Providence Centralia Hospital will be on your left before reaching Society Place on your right. Society Place is a one-mile drive from the interstate exit. For an aerial view, click here.
Is there any chance your park will close?
No, and we back it up. If you purchase a new home through The Foster Group, the owners of Society Place, you will receive a no-closure guarantee. If we close the park during your lifetime, we will buy your home back at the assessed value, or pay to have it moved and set up in any community in Washington. Your choice. Guaranteed in writing. Of course, it’s easy to make this promise because we’re never going to close Society Place.
What size homes can you accommodate?
Society Place only allows doublewide manufactured homes. We currently have one home for sale that you can view here. There also are several home sellers in the local area that provide the latest line of new and custom homes. To get started choosing your new home, click here.
Do you allow children and pets?
Yes, cats and dogs under 25 lbs – limited to 2 pets. Assistance animals are permitted under certain conditions. Only certified assistance dogs may exceed the park’s 25 pound maturity weight.
Can I park my boat there?
YES! Society Place has an RV storage area available for boats and trailers. Snowbirds are most definitely welcome.
Does it flood at Society Place?
No, Society Place is in a 500-year flood plain, which, for all intents and purposes, means it never floods at Society Place. When Centralia was hit by floods in 2007, Society Place was not affected, nor will it ever be.
If I apply for a space, do you run a credit check?
Yes. Prospective residents must fill out an application. We look for residents with good credit, but you don’t necessarily have to have perfect credit.
